The hotel industry will likely have a promising summer, as vacation budgets in most countries are on the rise. A recent survey by the Wyndham Hotel Group showed that 70% of travelers are going to spend at least the same amount of money they spent last year on vacation. 35% of them are planning to spend more. The survey was conducted among 5,600 adults across US, Brazil, China, Canada and the UK.
66% of Chinese travelers are planning to increase their vacation budget, followed by Brazil travelers at 41%. US travelers will be using roughly the same amount to take a longer vacation.
As for accommodations and hotel extras, the survey showed that US travelers would pay more for a hotel in a better location (35%), great view (30%), and spa facilities (30%). Brazilians seem to put a premium on customer service and breakfast, as 40% said that these are two things Brazilian travelers are looking for. 45% of Chinese travelers, on the other hand, have placed spa facilities as the most important factor when looking for hotel accommodations.
If you’re hotel offers great breakfast and spa facilities, this might be the perfect opportunity to streamline these services in your marketing campaign. This might well be your edge among your competitors.
Among those who were surveyed, 34% were part of a loyalty program. 62% of these stated that their membership in a loyalty program greatly influences their choice of a hotel.
As for the type of accommodations, around half (45%) will go for midscale accommodations. More than a quarter (28%) who travel around once a year are looking for budget or economy rooms. 39% of frequent travelers, those who travel four times or more every year, will go for luxury accommodations.
Among the activities and places vacationers are looking for are major theme parks (43%), shopping (40%), and adventure-themed trips (37%). If these are some of the activities found within your area, it shouldn’t be difficult to lure customers into booking a room in your hotel!
